Momentum visits The Faroe Islands largest windfarm just outside Tórshavn
Hosted by CEO Hákun Djurhuus from the Faroe Islands main energy supplier SEV, CEO Kim Madsen for Momentum Gruppen A/S was presented for SEV largest wind farm consisting of 13 Enercon E44 with a total installed capacity of 11,7 MW, generating approximately 41 GWh annually.
The Faroe Islands main energy sources are oil 51%, hydro 31% and wind 18 % (2018). The target is to be totally independent from fossil fuel by 2030 by increasing investments in wind-, solar- and water production facilities.
As there are challenges with lack of wind and water in the summer months, solar is also expected to play a large role in the future.
Having two decades of experience with operation of wind turbines, the last year’s also solar plants, we had informal discussions about eventual future cooperation between Momentum and SEV.
